Another demonstration of Iago displaying his unpleasant jealousy towards Othello is when Iago attempts to convince himself that Othello has had an affair with his companion, Emelia. Iago fools everyone in the play into believing he's honest. Iago has had many power struggles but he tried to maintain is throughout the play but he could not keep it up throughout the whole play.

The work revolves around four central characters: Othello, Othello's wife Desdemona, his lieutenant Cassio and advisor Iago. His premeditated motives are used in the tragedy to manipulate the other characters. This passage shows that even though Othello claims that he will not be conflicted by jealousy, step by step he is moving away from his claim and becomes jealous and filled with doubts. They break the news to Brabantio that his daughter secretly married Othello. Everyone feels jealous at certain times of their lives, and this feeling can cause people to do irrational things. Jealousy in Othello is what the play was founded on. There is no more but this, away at once with love or jealousy! Othello later finds that Desdemona was not unfaithful and commits suicide. His acts are pre-meditated and have reasons. Jealousy appears many times in several characters of Othello. Othello's villain, Iago, is undoubtedly is one of literature's most impressive masters of deception. One school of thought suggests that Othello is a noble hero who is brought down by a devil, whose actions cannot be explained absolutely. Iago is willing to exploit everyone just to get even with Othello proving that jealousy can actually lead humans to abandon their logic. Although Desdemona's father dislikes his daughter's choice, Desdemona loves Othello very much and the two are married.
